OUR FEED

FOOD IS

medicine.

THAT STARTS WITH WHAT OUR HENS EAT.

hero-mountains-logo.jpg

A pasture-raised egg is only as nourishing as the hen that laid it. And a hen is only as nourishing as her diet. So we treat feed like the foundation it is.

Our custom ration is formulated in close partnership with a farmer-owned cooperative in the Shenandoah Valley — with in-house nutritionists who help us refine the diet as research evolves. Every ingredient is chosen intentionally. The result shows up in every yolk.

This is our long-term commitment. We create our feed program in close partnership with poultry nutritionists in an effort to make the most nutrient-dense egg possible.

SOURCED CLOSE TO HOME

40

MILES

OUR FEED IS SOURCED WITHIN A 40-MILE RADIUS OF OUR FARMS

Fresher grain. Fewer transport miles. Dollars staying inside the Appalachian economy. Our protein crops are grown by neighboring Appalachian farmers — building a regional supply chain that supports the same families we share fence lines with.

THREE THINGS YOU WON'T FIND IN OUR FEED.

The shortest route to a healthier egg is removing the things that don't belong. Then we source what does belong as locally as possible.

01

IMPORTED INGREDIENTS

Every ingredient in our ration is sourced within the United States. Most grown within driving distance of our farms.

02

ANIMAL BYPRODUCTS

Our hens eat a 100% vegetarian ration. Protein comes from regionally grown grains and legumes. Not rendered animal meal.

03

ROUTINE ANTIBOTICS

Our flock health program is built on nutrition, environment, and humane husbandry. Not preventative medication.

OMEGA-RICH SEEDS

TRACE MINERALS

A balanced micronutrient profile worked out with our nutritionist.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

FOOD IS

medicine.

We exist to feed people in places where it matters most — hospitals, schools, family dinner tables. That responsibility shapes every decision we make about our hens.A hen's diet directly shapes the nutrient density of her egg.

Better feed means more vitamin D, more omega-3s, deeper color, and a more flavorful yolk. That's not a marketing claim, it's biology. And it's the foundation of everything we do.We're in constant contact with our nutritionist and feed supplier, refining ratios and ingredients as research evolves.

We don't claim to have a perfect formula. We claim to be working on it openly, with the discipline that the communities we serve deserve.

AN EVOLVING PRACTICE

ALWAYS REFINING.

Always learning.
