A FIRST IN HISTORY
LOST CITY, WV
For the first time in West Virginia history, eggs raised here are being processed here — creating a reliable, local supply of pasture‑raised eggs for the institutions that serve our communities.
For generations, the Hamilton family has been raising chickens in the mountains of Hardy County, West Virginia. Richard Hamilton is the third generation to work Lonesome Ridge Farm — and the first to bring egg processing home to the state.
Until now, every egg raised in West Virginia left the state to be processed somewhere else. Richard is changing that — and building something that benefits not just his family, but an entire network of Appalachian farming families and the communities they feed.
